Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov Tells Kaykov TV Why Many Young Men Stay Single: Ego and a Lack of “Flexibility and Commitment”
In a Kaykov TV clip released Oct. 23, Queens Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov says ego and rigid expectations keep many community singles from marrying, and that flexibility and commitment are missing.
Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov, the Queens rabbi and Bukharian community leader, says many young people in the community remain single because of ego and rigid expectations, and that two qualities are “very much lacking” in today’s relationships: flexibility and commitment. He made the remarks in a clip Kaykov TV released on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, from its full interview with him.

“The F and the C”
The clip takes up why so many young men “in our community” have not married, in some cases until “a crazy age nowadays,” as the conversation puts it.
“I think the reason why people are not married has to do a little bit with their ego,” Rabbi Nisanov answers, according to the clip’s audio.
“There’s two things that’s very much lacking,” he says: “the F and the C. Flexibility and commitment.” He compares a relationship to things that bend: “When things are flexible, they don’t break.” Flexibility is needed “in relationships, in friendships, in business,” he says, adding, “Nobody likes rigid people.”
He describes the attitude he sees as the problem: “I want this kind of girl or else.” His answer: “Well, there’s no such thing.”
The channel’s description says the rabbi “reveals two essential qualities for a successful marriage: flexibility and commitment,” and calls it “a conversation every young person thinking about marriage should hear.”
The full interview
The clip comes from Kaykov TV’s full conversation with Rabbi Nisanov, which premiered on Oct. 19. In that interview he also speaks about antisemitism, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the loss of his daughter. Bukharian Jewish Post reported on the full interview on Oct. 20. The marriage segment was not part of that report.
Quotations are taken from the clip’s audio, as rendered by YouTube’s automatic transcript, and lightly trimmed for readability without changing meaning.
