Four Bukharian attorneys who built personal-injury practices from scratch told law students at Hofstra University on Monday, Oct. 12, that a lawyer’s most valuable asset is not a billboard or a big verdict—it is their name.

The panel, “Building the Case: The Business of Personal Injury,” was hosted by Chabad at Hofstra Law at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, The Bukharian Times reported. About 50 students from Hofstra, St. John’s, Touro, Cardozo, and Brooklyn Law School attended in person and on Zoom. Hofstra 3L Jonathan Ustaev, president of Chabad at Hofstra, organized and moderated the event; the series began last year under previous president Joshua Raziyev.

Panelists included Moshe Borukh of Levy & Borukh, PLLC (opened 2022); Nison Mirakov of Metro Injury and Mirakov Law (2023); Boris Masheyev and David Aminov of WRKRS Law Firm (founded 2025); and Jack Viener of The Sanders Law Firm, whose family practice dates to 1967.

Speakers stressed the dual burden of practicing law and running a business. Mirakov said, “When your back is against the wall, you’ll always find a way to figure it out.” Aminov urged students to treat time as their most valuable resource. Masheyev said WRKRS now works with about 110 referring firms nationwide, built largely through relationships. Borukh’s firm has more than 200,000 social media followers and argued that genuine content can outperform larger advertising budgets.

Several firms described using AI for after-hours calls, medical-record review, and deposition prep—while Viener warned never to trust AI-generated legal work without checking it. All five agreed reputation is the most important currency. Chabad at Hofstra served a kosher lunch and plans further panels this year, beginning with real estate on Oct. 27.
